In July 2022, I participated in the National Critics Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut. It was an extraordinary professional development opportunity, an intensive workshop where I joined 14 peers for deep dives into new work on stage, on film, and even on a restaurant table. Above is a photo of our group at — in fact, on — Jacob’s Pillow.
I wrote about this experience for the Duluth News Tribune. While much of the work we saw was in development or previews, so not appropriate to review publicly, I did publish a revised version of a movie review I wrote during the program: Jordan Peele’s Nope.
